Your moment becomes a sidereal angle

A date and clock time turn into a Julian day, then into Greenwich mean sidereal time. Add your longitude and you have local sidereal time — the exact angle of the sky over your chosen spot at that instant.

Every star is placed on the dome

For each of the 5,044 catalogued stars brighter than magnitude 6 we solve for altitude and azimuth from your latitude. Anything below the horizon is dropped; what remains is genuinely what stood above you.

The dome is flattened, honestly

We use a stereographic projection centred on the zenith — the classic planisphere construction. Angles are preserved, so constellations keep the shapes you would recognise looking up.

Then it is printed properly

Ten-colour pigment giclée on 200gsm archival matte, rated for a century without fading. Rolled in a rigid tube, or mounted in solid oak, black ash or brushed brass. Prefer to skip printing? Choose the digital download and we email the same print-ready A3 file at 300 DPI.
